Celebrate the dead’s journey back to the world of the living. Conceived as a digital altar, días_de_los_Muertos/2009 (:-X encourages participants to commemorate aspects of an honored one's life and take ownership of the dead’s journey as their own.

This project launched to celebrate Dias de los Muertos 2009. It is also intended to be an ongoing online resource and forum for communities participating in the tradition world-wide. Over time, the Oakland Museum of California will use the video, images, and conversations from this website to enhance our annual Days of the Dead exhibition and community celebration.

Check out the two new videos I've added to the site. One is from Teotitlan del Valle one of the towns near Oaxaca city where we were invited to spend November 1st with the Vazquez family (Thank you Caro). The Oakland Museum of California wants to recognize Tina Tamale for her contributions to the Oakland Community. She is an inspirational business woman a supporter of the arts and participates in a multitude of efforts to make our city shine. Thank you Tina!
